Western Express is a family owned wholesale distributor of country western merchandise. Their low prices and expansive inventory make them a one-stop-shop for many value-priced sellers. Dan Mottsman, co-owner of Western Express, tells Merchandiser that his father started the business in the late 1970’s when western style was experiencing a rise in popularity. Ever since that time, Western Express has experienced slow and steady growth.
Much of the company’s success can be attributed the quality, pricing, and convenience of many of their staple products such as cowboy hats, holsters, western shirts, wallets, and belt buckles. “Our products sell consistently all year round,” explains Mottsman. “We have a very extensive line.” This January, Western Express has added new belt buckle and belt designs to their inventory, in addition to boots, hats and accessories. “We’re constantly adding new products,” says Mottsman. “We encourage our retailers to check our website frequently for updates.”
Western Express’ dedicated USA Made Products category is a current favorite among customers. “We have a very large selection of made in the USA items,” says Mottsman. “The pricing is also very competitive. It’s not higher than our other products. In particular, we have a lot of jewelry that is made in the United States.”
Mottsman advises that January is an ideal time for sellers to test out new merchandise and start placing orders for spring. “We have a very low order minimums,” continues Mottsman. “So it’s very easy to try us out.” Orders start at $175 and are shipped out quickly. Western Express can also accommodate custom and freight orders. Mottsman recommends that customers take advantage of the low order minimum to avoid over-ordering. “We always have our products in stock, and our turnaround time is very fast,” says Mottsman. “So we recommend placing smaller orders as you go to help manage your inventory.” For more information, visit www.wexpress.com.
