Rogers Community Auction and Flea Market has been voted “Best Flea Market in Ohio” by Ohio Magazine for the past two years. Their auctions and markets attract over 50,000 visitors weekly. This past fall, they debuted Baer Cub Bidding, which is a full-blown auction designed exclusively for children. “The idea came from the great-granddaughter of founder Emmet Baer,” says Roger’s Promotions and Public Relations Manager Kymberly Seabolt. “She was visiting a regional amusement park and musing on the idea to teach young auction goers and their parents all about the auction process in a way that was fun and not intimidating.” The Baer Cub auctions were an instant hit. “We are constantly fielding calls asking for the 2016 dates,” says Seabolt.
Baer Cub Bidding auctions off items including school supplies, candy, toys, inflatables, books, backpacks, and more. “Many of our items are donated through our generous market vendors,” explains Seabolt. “In 2015, $3 entitled a young bidder to $110 ‘Baer Bucks.’”
This year, the children’s bidding events will be held June 24th, July 8th, July 22nd, August 5th, and August 19th. “We only host it when school is not in session,” explains Seabolt. “We also space it among free concerts and special events so that even repeat visitors can find something new and fun each Friday at Rogers.”
Rogers hosts other family-friendly events throughout the year, such as: free fireworks on July 1st, a Happy Halloween party in October, and breakfast with Santa on Black Friday. Regular weekly auctions are held every Friday at 1pm, 5pm, and 6pm. Items include antiques, household and miscellaneous, tools, toys, plants, produce, new and used merchandise, building supplies, baked foods, fresh eggs, small livestock, and more. Rogers also hosts monthly consignment auctions on the second Tuesday of each month.
Their flea market hosts 1,600 vendor spaces. “Our vendors literally offer everything from A-Z,” says Seabolt. “There are tastes and treasures abound. We strongly suggest anyone considering a visit to our market check out our website at RogersOhio.com, click on our Visitors’ Guide, and read ‘Tips Before Your Visit’ before attending. We want visitors to come prepared for the size and scope, and ready to have a great time.”
