Kick start your spring season with this four day fun-filled event for the whole family. Complete with amusement park rides, contests, pageants, raffles, and even a parade, the 50th Annual Grifton Shad Festival is one you won’t want to miss.
The Grifton Shad Festival is one of the most time-honored and longest running festivals in all of North Carolina. Begun back in 1970, it is the oldest festival in Pitt County and the second oldest in eastern North Carolina. The town of Grifton has even been recognized by the North Carolina State Legislator as the Official Shad Capital of the state.
Come out and enjoy four days of Down East Hospitality. There are so many events happening, that one day doesn’t do the festival justice. Some of the main events include the Gizzard Pageant on Thursday, April 16th, a Fun Run 5k Run on Sunday, April 19th, a parade on Saturday, April 18th, an art show on both Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th, just to name a few.
