Last month, Sumner Communications and The Merchandiser Group headed to sunny Las Vegas for the biannual ASD Market Week trade show and Independent Retailer Conference. ASD Market Week is a value-priced sellers dream. After all, the name stands for Affordable Shopping Destination. The trade show spans the entire Las Vegas Convention Center, offering nine shows in one: Gift & Home Accents, Fashion & Accessories, Cash & Carry, Convenience Store, General Store and Closeouts, Culture, Smoke & Vape, Source Direct, Souvenir & Novelty, and Beauty & Fragrance.

The nine shows attract wholesalers, manufactures, and distributors from all over the world offering the most affordable, good quality, fan-favorite products. We found many new favorite products, including officially licensed military wear for toddlers and children from Trooper Gear, uniquely scented layer candles in handled mason jars from Our Own Candle Company, extra durable leggings from Yelete, and many more. We also visited with some of our favorite wholesalers, including KRS Corporation and the Universal Bottle Clip, Discount Truckloads, SJT, Duke Imports, and so many more.

With literally thousands and thousands of exhibitors to browse, it’s almost impossible to see them all! But one thing is for certain; ASD Market Week is always a must-attend event for everyone in the value-priced retail space.

When we weren’t scouring the aisles of North, Central, and South hall of the Convention Center, we sat in on many engaging seminars provided free for attendees by the Independent Retailer Conference. Topics included building a profitable social media strategy, how to increase sales, marketing to millennials, and using your personality to sell more product, just to name a few of the sessions that provided valuable information for market sellers.

The next ASD Market Week and Independent Retailer Conference are coming up quickly, so mark your calendars now. July 29th – August 1st the trade show and conference return to the Las Vegas Convention Center. We hope to see you there!
