Generous Market Funds Local Scholarships

by Emanuel Luftglass

Flea MarketThe Lake Worth Florida High School Flea Market has a long-standing reputation for generosity, especially in giving a helping hand to area students. Founded in 1987 by the late Frank Kohl, former Executive Director of the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce and David Cantley, principal of the Lake Worth High School, the market has grown to become a local landmark.

Between 150-200 vendors attend this busy market each weekend, paying between $12 to $15 daily to rent space. Vendors who sell their wares here get an extra boost from their rental fees: each year the market sets aside $150,000 in vendor-fee revenue and donates the money in the form of scholarships to 500 worthy area students.

An average of 3,000 shoppers attend the market each weekend.  The Lake Worth High School Flea Market is open from 5 a. m. to 3 p. m. every Saturday and Sunday and is located in the Lake Worth High School parking lot at 1701 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, Florida.
