Southern Ohio Poultry Swap Meet Moves
The Southern Ohio Poultry Association is changing venues for its series of swap meets. The association announced that it is moving its Swap Days events from the Scioto County Fairgrounds, where it began as a chicken swap in 1956, to the Ross County Fairgrounds at 344 Fairgrounds Road in Chillicothe, OH. The next swap meet will be held April 11-13. Gates open for set up at 1 p.m. on Friday for inside vendors and 3 p.m. for outside vendors. The public can enter after and the market remains open until close Sunday at 7 p.m. Swap Days typically draw more than 2,000 vendors and estimated crowds of 35,000 to 40,000 people during each of the events. Markets will also be held June 6-8 and October 10-12. The flea market atmosphere features everything from animals to antiques and crafts.
The Ross County Fairgrounds offers large parking lots, paved roads and access to plenty of electricity and water. The three Swap Days events could occupy a number of facilities, including the show arena, the beef barn, the 4-H building, the vegetable building, the Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center building, and a portion of the camping area.
