Canton Flea Market Vendors Unite to Keep the Market Open

Around 50 vendors from the Canton Flea Market, in Canton, NY, gathered Monday outside the store seeking to keep the market open and looking for answers from the University Plaza’s new owner, David C. Muraco. New Venture Assets LLC, owned by Muraco, bought the plaza in June for $2.1 million, according to the Watertown Daily Times. Its fate is in limbo because operator Frank E. Monnett is being evicted from the space at 218 Old Route 11 for putting a stop-payment order on his July rent check to Muraco. Muraco met with vendors about the future...

Flea Market & Classic Car Show in Michigan Sept. 8

The Biggest Sale Michigan and Biggest Classic Car Show is scheduled for September 8th at the former site of the Summit Place Mall in Waterford, MI. The founders of Brooklyn Flea, New York City’s outdoor market of independent food and merchandise vendors, have announced plans to open a similar concept venue in the greater U Street historic district of Washington, DC. Survey Reveals Consumers’ Back-to-School Shopping Plans

More than two thirds of consumers (68 percent) plan to spend up to $500 this back-to-school shopping season, according to the PriceGrabber® 2013 Back-to-School Survey, and classic school supplies and clothing top their lists.  This is up significantly from 2011, when just 48 percent of consumers surveyed said they would spend up to $500, and up from 63 percent in 2012.
