Hartford HodgePodge Opens in CT

image of hartford hodgepodgeFood, music, performance and shopping artfully fuse this fall as the Hartford HodgePodge officially opens. Starting on Sunday, October 7 and running every Sunday through November 17 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., market attendees can partake in a rotating market of vendors, entertainers and culinary artists on Pratt Street in Hartford, CT. The Hartford HodgePodge is the first event of its kind downtown, and is expected to become a permanent seasonal fixture in the urban community. An event several months in the making, its creators report already seeing a positive response. Market manager Stephanie Jarm, who also operates the nearby Wethersfield Farmer’s Market in Wethersfield, CT, says she is thrilled to see the new seasonal fixture come to fruition. “The HodgePodge is created to bring elements that can’t be found in an urban environment to downtown Hartford,” she says. “By bringing vendors, artists and food that can’t otherwise be found in this area, we can do truly awesome things for downtown.”

Themes Add to the Fun

Jarm points out that the event is family friendly. “Yes, we’re trying to deliver something trendy to the new generation that resides downtown,” she expresses. “But at the same time, the market has very open arms.” Each week, the HodgePodge will feature a different theme, beginning with the circus themed “Big Top Bazaar” week, one week partnered with Connecticut’s Thomas Hooker Brewing Company, a Halloween costume week and more. The full calendar is available on the market’s website.

Booths are available in sizes of 10 by 10 feet and 10 by 20 feet for interested vendors who any variety of merchandise. Vendors are not required to commit to sell for all eight weeks of the market, but a price break is available for those who decide to do so. Rates for non-food vendors are $75 per day and $60 if more than three dates are scheduled. Downloadable vendor applications are available online here. Street parking will be open for all vendors and visitors, and is free or the duration of the event. Interested vendors may contact Jarm by calling 860-249-1757, visiting or emailing
