Three Generations of Flea Market Know-How

The Charlotte Flea Market, located in Rochester, NY, opened in November 2009. Operating seven days a week from 10 to 6, excluding holidays, the market consists of two separate stores with 30 to 40 vendors each and features a wide range of merchandise, ideal for both those looking for affordable goods and those seeking higher-end items catered towards eBay shoppers.

A Draw Throughout Upstate New York

Owned and managed by three generations of the Truesdale family, the Charlotte Flea Market focuses on meeting the needs of the local community, but has also gotten new customers from all over the region. “We have a guy who comes every single month from Canada, and we have people who come from Buffalo and Syracuse,” says Diane Truesdale, who runs the market with her father and daughter. “I have customers that have been with my father since he first started doing garage sales, and they still come to see what they can find. A couple of them have also become vendors.”

The Truesdales plan on putting a covered farmer’s market between the two buildings, and further promoting the market more through word of mouth, as well as their website and Facebook page. The cost for vendors varies, as both shelving units and tables are available, with price depending on the size. For more information, call (585) 429-0675.
