Gem and Mineral Products from Eloxite
Eloxite, a wholesale distributor of rock hound supplies, jewelry parts, beads and beading supplies, rock grinding equipment and more, was founded in 1955 by Robert Berry and was initially located in his Omaha, Nebraska basement. He soon moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, a location the company has now operated out of for more than 45 years. “He was a rock hound and rock collector, and came to Wyoming because he had some agate and jade claims out here,” says Pat Murphy, Eloxite’s president. “Somebody mentioned the building we’re in now was for sale, so he moved out here.” Berry also came up with the company’s unique name, a cross between the German word for anodization and the suffix “ite,” commonly used to name rock minerals.
The wholesaler’s extensive inventory also includes items such as pendants, bracelets, belt buckles, gemstone necklaces, and jewelers tools, offering jewelry craft supplies and equipment and supplies for beaders, lapidary enthusiasts and rock hounds who collect agates, gems, and minerals that they will then cut and polish to create their own jewelry products and rock crafts. According to Murphy, beads have been a growing line recently, as customer demand has necessitated additional designs and offerings, while belt buckles have also been increasing in popularity. Most of Eloxite’s products, especially the jewelry, are made in the United States.
Eloxite takes great pride in providing new products for new and returning customers, watching the market to see what can be added to the wholesaler’s extensive line of items. In addition, the company is also dedicated to offering excellent customer service. “Our service is really fast, and orders generally go out the same day they are purchased,” Murphy notes. “We usually buy directly from the manufacturers, especially on jewelry parts, with no middle man.”
Great for the Flea Market Vendor
Murphy adds that Eloxite’s products are an ideal fit for the flea market audience because they are inexpensive, and a majority of the jewelry craft items are very easy to assemble, and a vast majority of the stones the company offers are easy to mount. The wholesaler sells both necklace and bracelet displays to showcase the products, as well as jewelry boxes. While markup can vary due to the wide variety of goods sold by Eloxite, sellers can expect to make at least keystone, and with a minimum order size of only $15, vendors can make both large and small purchases to restock their inventory.
