Two swap meet vendors enlist in ‘Storage Wars’

A new TV show debuts tomorrow night, Dec. 1, on A&E in the newly popular “treasure hunting” genre. “Storage Wars,” on at 10 p.m., 9 p.m. central, joins “Auction Hunters” on Spike, with a very similar premise. Bargain hunters bid on unclaimed storage unit contents, then sell off the valuables. One twist makes this show different, evidently, from the Spike offering: “Storage Wars” pits four competing hunters against each other.

There’s one more notable twist, this time. Two of the competitors are actual swap meet vendors with booths at Kobey’s Swap Meet in San Diego. David Hester is described on the A&E show site as a “consignment mogul” who makes a $40,000 profit in one day. Darrell Sheets, described by A&E as a “storage addict,” finds a unit literally filled with silver and gold. Both are proudly claimed as “our vendors” on the Kobey’s Swap Meet Facebook page.
And, according to Anthony Pretto, a manager at Kobey’s, “the ‘Storage Wars’ production team came out to our flea market and filmed part of one episode that is supposed to be shown as part of season 1.”
The new show has gotten a share of media attention already. In addition to the two shows in this genre currently on the air, FleaMarketZone has reported on a slew of others that are in production.

Jarod and Brandy need not let the others know how much money they have. If the others know they have little than they will break them first shot to keep them from biding on other auctions. Yes the others watch Brandy feeding them information week in and week out. I dont blame her for protecting Jarod from the othe guys but keep it off camera and it will pay off when they dont treat him as a botton feeder.
i wish i could partner up with brandy and jarod because they wouldint be treated like that by those guys because they wouldint loose a bid at all i feel bad for them that them bloodsuckers daves the worst he thinks cause he got a little money he can b a big crybaby he told jarod to respect him id spit on that dude hes a noone and shouldint even be on a show like that
