Indoor/outdoor flea market opening this weekend in Virginia

The Pamplin Flea Market is opening its doors this Saturday, Oct. 2 in Pamplin, Va. “It’s both an indoor and outdoor market,” says owner Robert Inzeo. “There’s a lot of space there. Without any question, I could fit 50 to 60 spaces. But right now, for the opening, I’ll start with 20 spaces.” Inzeo was inspired to create a market when he was faced with delays in opening a restaurant on the site. “I got this building, and I’m waiting for a sewer connection, which should be sometime in March, and when that comes, I’m going to open...

A veteran second-hand furniture vendor is opening up a flea market of her own Nov. 1 in Brookland, Ark. Tammy Trantham has taken over the old Harvey’s Body Shop at 6127 Highway 49. Mile high makeover

The Mile High Flea Market in Commerce City, Colo., has changed its name and expanded its offerings as part of a comprehensive upgrade, according to a report in the Denver Post. The new Mile High Marketplace now offers an annual blues festival, an art gallery, carnival rides for kids, a flowing fountain and shops selling coffee and new clothes. Owner Jim Hurrell, who purchased the market in 2007, has put $3 million into the renovations, which are designed to give the venue a more upscale feel. Calif. drive-in launches swap meet this Sunday

Following in a California tradition of businesses that are drive-in movie theaters by night and swap meets by day, the new owner of the Skyline Drive-in in Barstow, Calif., is opening a flea market this Sunday, Sept. 26. Flea market profile: The COD Street Fair

In Palm Desert, Calif., one community college has an unusual — and unusually effective — fund raiser. The College of the Desert Alumni Association operates a year-round open-air flea market that raises, on average, $500,000 annually.
